The very first items of jewellery I ever made were earrings.
A new body of work will often start with earrings.
They are what I come back to, my solace, my guilty pleasure.
If my work is taking complicated directions or hitting dead ends, if I am disappointed with what I have just made or feel at loss with what to do next, I make earrings.
I love the time-consuming search for symmetry, rooting through my boxes to find the exact piece that will match in shape, colour and weight the one I already have. I like the challenge of balancing these two tiny mobiles that will dangle from your ears.
I like to think that the joy that goes into making them shines through and makes them joyful to wear.
